Why things die.

I just read my few posts on this blog and wondered why I had stopped. I don't really remember now. Maybe winter was getting to me and I let the blues get me down. I don't know. But it's June now, and I think it's high time I came back to this. I really enjoyed doing it. At the moment I am preparing for an unexpected move and am starting a new job with a strange schedule so I think I will put this off until I'm in my new place. I will try to update this in the mean time with projects I've done since I last updated.

To art!

Oops!

I completely forgot to blog last night! My baaad. I had a crazy day though, which ended in the return of a long lost friend. I won't go into details. Let's just say Mother Nature ganged up on me.

Anywaaay~ I am still working on this mermaid. It's proving to be a tad more intricate than I thought. Not to mention I spent most of the day yesterday doing a photoshoot with my sister and editing said photos.

I also uploaded a few more random photos I recently edited onto my Deviant Art account. I am going to finish editing the photos from yesterday's shoot and get them up on DA soon. For now, I leave you with a little preview!

Good day!

Mermaid

So today's slip was a mermaid, but not Ariel. (She has her own slip somewhere in there, haha.)

I brainstormed a really great multi-media project for this. It is kind of intricate and I have to wait a lot for drying, and I am also trying to get my room around, so it is going to stretch into tomorrow. I also took a break and made cookies. ^__^

I won't go into details about it until it is finished so, this is it for today!

Double Day & Pictures

So because I slacked off yesterday I did two slips today. Yesterday's cheeseburger and today was balloons.

For the cheeseburger I decided to use one of my tiny canvases (5x7in) and acrylic paint. I thought about what I should make the cheeseburger look like and I decided it would be sweet to make it a Krabby Patty. For those of you who do not know the wonders of the Krabby Patty I bestow upon you this. I realize that my painting does not have visible cheese, and that is because the reference picture I used did not have visible cheese. Fear not however, there is cheese. I really had a great time painting this, it was a lot of fun.

Now to the balloons. This project was so fun fun fun to do. I decided to use old deflated foil balloons from my birthday last year to make mini balloons. I found a good size peice of cardboard and cut it to the size I wanted, about 12x18in. I covered it in a lime green tissue paper-like "fabric". It's basically the same kind of thing as dryer sheets are made of. I then compacted tissue paper into circles and stuffed the backs with plain paper to give it a flat back and keep it in shape. I cut the foil balloons and wrapped the circles in them, giving them a little "tail". Then I tied ribbons to them and used double sided tape to attach the balloons to the "canvas" so to speak. I twisted the ribbon down and secured it in the back of the piece. I am really happy with how it turned out and the photos just do NOT do it justice. I will try to take better ones in better light when I get the time.

Last but not least, as promised, here are the (not the best quality because my room is pretty dark and they either got washed out or were a tad blurry) photos of this past week's projects:

The Idea Can

Crazy Design

Abstract Ishkaboo

Song- "You Don't Know Me"

Krabby Patty

Balloons

So there it is! The pictures really don't do much justice, but my room is terrible for lighting at the moment and I just wanted to get them up. I have reason to believe someone had their mitts on "Abstract Ishkaboo" because I see weird spots on it so, ignore them please. Eventually I will try to get pictures that are truer to how the pieces look in real life.

As always thanks for looking!

Fail

Okay, today's slip was cheeseburger, but I didn't do anything for it. Unless you count making cheeseburgers for dinner. Which I totally did.

Anyway, I did however actually upload some things onto my Deviant Art account so you can head over there if you please by clicking here.

I know I promised pictures on Sundays but I got a little off whack so expect them tomorrow, along with cheeseburger, and whatever tomorrow's slip is, art.

Song

Today's slip was a song. It seemed like a good idea when I wrote it but I don't know if it was just me or what but I wasn't into it at all.

I used a piece of sketchbook paper, a mechanical #2 pencil and colored pencils. The song I picked was "You Don't Know Me" by Ben Folds, because it's been in my head all day and it was the only song I could think of an idea for. I drew two little people looking defeated. I had them each saying the same boring thing and I drew thought bubbles above them with things they liked, but they were somewhat opposite of each others. I colored the people in black and blue and pink respectively for the male and female. I didn't get to coloring the rest because frankly I just wasn't into it at all.

The idea however is something I might come back to, possibly in another context unrelated to the song itself. Hell, I might get the whim to finish the coloring of this one, but as for now it's done.
